A KAMI TALE
Long ago, in a world stitched together by dreams and ancient magics, there lived a mighty dragon named Chotto — not just any beast, but a dragon born of a dark magic, a creature destined to transcend space and time.
For centuries, Chotto wandered the realms, a silent guardian and a harbinger of change. But all dragons must meet their end — and so did Chotto, not in battle against heroes, but against an even older force: a shadow dragon, the embodiment of death and oblivion.
In a cataclysmic battle that sundered mountains and scorched skies, Chotto fought and slayed the shadow dragon — but at the cost of her own life.
Yet death was not his end.
Chotto awoke in a realm between realities — not as a mere spirit, but as a Kami, a god-dragon, forged anew by the clash of fates. Her soul, once bound by flesh and scale, now shimmered with divine light. She was no longer a dragon of earth — She was a dragon of the spirit.
Confused and unstable in her new form, Chotto descended the sacred Dragonbone Mountain where she had awoken, her godhood leaking chaotic magic into the world around her. At the mountain's base, she stumbled into a humble village centered around an old, creaky izakaya.
Thirsty for something to anchor her soul, Chotto wandered in, seeking wine to calm the raging storm inside her. There, she met Kagi — a slippery Kami known for trickery, who had been pretending to be the town's patron spirit, conning the villagers into endless offerings and adoration.
Intrigued by Chotto's raw, unstable power (and smelling the opportunity for new mischief), Kagi attached herself to the dragon's side.
One fateful night, lured by strange whispers in the forest, Chotto and Kagi stumbled upon a rift — a crack in the world's fabric, pulsing with untold energies.
Without hesitation, Chotto stepped through, driven by curiosity and an ancient dragon's instinct to chase the unknown.
On the other side, amidst endless fields of ice and forgotten ruins, they found Yuki — a girl of frost and sorrow, trapped between worlds, her powers sealed away by forces unknown. Chotto, sensing a kindred spirit lost in the currents of fate, rescued Yuki and pulled her back into their world.
With Yuki’s arrival, everything changed.
The trio — Drakainas, Trickster, and Frost Maiden — slowly realized the devastating truth:
They were not mortals, nor simple spirits — they were Kami. Gods. Creators and destroyers.
Their mere presence reshaped the land: forests grew wild, storms raged without warning, rivers turned to crystal. Their emotions twisted fate itself.
But unchecked gods breed chaos. A chaos many mortals could not endure...
To combat this chaos three knights where chosen.
Chosen to bring order to the chaos.
Enter the Knights of the Covenant — a secretive order of warriors bound by ancient pacts to guard the balance between mortals and the divine. Armed with relics forged from celestial dragon bones and starfire, the Knights seek to either seal the wild Kami... or destroy them if needed.
Now, Chotto, Kagi, and Yuki must walk the fine line between wonder and ruin, gods learning their own strength, hunted by mortals who fear what they cannot control.
The world trembles at the beginning of their story.
This is... A Kami Tale.
